Simple and Affordable Coastal Kitchen Accessory Ideas

You probably spend a lot of time in your kitchen, right? I know I do. Use some of these simple kitchen accents to turn the heart of your home into your very own seaside sanctuary!

We're not talking complete kitchen renovation here. Just a few decorative, yet functional, accessories to give your kitchen a "beach house" feel without breaking the bank.

I recommend starting with one or more of the 3 most important kitchen necessities to make the biggest impact on your room: the cutting board, kitchen towel set and salt & pepper shakers. These are the things that you will not only see the most, but also get the most use out of.

Cutting boards come in all shapes, sizes and designs. My favorites are the tempered glass cutting boards that you can leave out on your counter all the time for a dramatic decorative touch. You can also opt for wooden cutting boards made of artisan bamboo. With or without a shore-inspired design, bamboo accents definitely lend a tropical feel.

Sometimes, our kitchen towels are the one thing in the room that are for display only. Whether you actually use them or not, they can be an eye-catching accent hanging from your oven or refrigerator. No A/C in your car? How do you cool down while driving?

I have an older car and the A/C is broken with no extra $ to fix it. Any suggestions to cool off while driving beside driving fast with the window down? I already wrap a frozen blue ice up in a towel with a rubber band and set it in my lap. Any other ideas?

I live in Florida and haven't had AC in years. I even delivered pizza in the summertime without it. It gets brutal. I did buy a little fan that plugged into my cigarette lighter, and it did a lot to push the hot air around. The best way I found to stay cool is to park in the shade everywhere you go and keep trips less than fifteen minutes if you can. Short sleeves and arms out the window do provide for a nice cooling of the left armpit area. And, definitely, bring a towel to wipe the sweat off.
