These are VERY high quality, extra-heavy-duty, double-draw, soap nut wash bags. They have heavy stitching up both sides and across top. Large, over-sized 3"x4" bag makes locating the wash bag very simple. They typically last for many months - far superior to lightweight, single-stitched, single-draw cotton wash bags that are commonly sold with soap nuts and frequently fall apart after a few loads. Each bag is constructed of heavy, durable muslin fabric. The tough, rugged, tightly wound cording makes opening and closing very smooth - easy for tying and untying over and over. Rest assured they will hold up under the harshest washing conditions, and last for many, many loads. NO INKS to come off in your wash - or possibly stain fabrics! Unprinted, all-natural material makes for an absolute minimal carbon footprint. 3 wash bags per set. |

Say what you will about Alexis Carrington (the inimitable Joan Collins in her signature role), but not even she at her greedy, manipulative, and scheming worst would have sanctioned the splitting of Dynasty's third season into two volumes. And this, mind you, is the woman hell bent on ruining the lives of ex-husband Blake Carrington (John Forsythe) and his "sweet" wife of two years, Krystle (Linda Evans), whom Alexis disdainfully calls, "the once and future secretary." To attain the money and power she needs to put her best laid plans into action, she compels a hospital bed wedding to her barely conscious fiancé, Cecil Colby (Lloyd Bochner), who has suffered a massive coronary ("We have to get back at Blake," she pleads). Later, she will uproot the life of Mark Jennings (Geoffrey Scott), Krystle's former husband, from whomsurprise, surpriseshe is not legally divorced. Alexis is the straw that stirs this intoxicating cocktail, but Season Three of this era-defining prime time soap is its most intoxicating yet (and marked the show's emergence for the first time in the Nielsen ratings' Top Five). Dynasty distinguished itself from Dallas by putting business on the back burner, and turning up the heat on its characters' outrageous private lives. As the season begins, Jeff (John James) and Fallon's (Pamela Sue Martin) baby is still missing, leading to one of the series' all-time great OMG moments, as the undone Claudia (Pamela Bellwood) clutching what is apparently the baby, accidentally sends it plummeting off a rooftop. The biggest development this season is the introduction of Michael Torrence (Gordon Thomson), a Billings, Montana lawyer, who learns on his grandmother's deathbed that he is actually Blake and Alexis's first-born son, Adam Carrington, who was kidnapped as an infant. Turns out that as the tree is bent, so are the twigs. No sooner does Alexis set Adam up at ColbyCo then he pits himself against the good and decent Jeff and has his office redone with toxic paint. On the homefront, Fallon wants a divorce and, in a bid for self-actualization, takes over the "white elephant" La Miranda Hotel, where she meets and flirts with "Michael," not realizing he is her long lost sibling. Her discovery of his identity when Alexis introduces them is just another priceless moment that makes this season, and this set, essential for Dynasty fans. Too bad it tops out at 12 episodes, right about the time that Heather Locklear re-appears as Sammy Jo (that's Samantha to you), with the missing and presumed dead Steven's baby. Damn you, Paramount; just when things are really getting good. --Donald Liebenson Movie DVD |

Melrose Place - The Fourth Season List Price: $39.98 Sale Price: $28.99 Average Rating: ![]() |
|
Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: 04/15/2008 Rating: Nr The fourth and the last essential season of Melrose Place literally begins with a bang, as a deranged Kimberly detonates the bombs that lay waste to much of the titular apartment building. But this being Melrose Place, it is hardly the only dramatic upheaval that will shake this addictive prime time soap to its very foundations. Where to begin? Framing this season are two great movie homages. The season opener echoes Silence of the Lambs with Kimberly (Marcia Cross) channeling Hannibal Lecter. The season finale recreates Carrie's ultimate shock, a classic "no they di'nt" cliffhanger in tune with Melrose Place's increasingly over-the-top aesthetic. In between are episodes ripe with left-turn character developments (Josie Bissett's doormat Jane vows to do a little "stepping" herself to further her career as a fashion designer) and outrageous plot twists (Kimberly somehow beats the rap for her act of domestic terrorism and becomes a radio talk show host--recruited by no less than Dr. Joyce Brothers!--and later, develops a split personality as a really desperate housewife.) But you haven't seen anything yet. Allison (Courtney Thorne-Smith), temporarily blinded in the blast, uses her disability to score pity points with Billy (Andrew Shue) while his new wife, the willful, spoiled, and manipulative Brooke (Kristin Davis) burns, especially when Allison marries her father! Matt (Doug Savant), the resident gay character, has a particularly eventful season, what with trying to clear his name after being framed for murder, suing for sexual discrimination, getting a new boyfriend, and becoming a drug addict. Michael (Thomas Calabro), much more evil and vicious in previous seasons, is not really a serious threat, but he does team up with Sydney (Laura Leighton) to Gaslight Kimberly. Jake (Grant Show), reeling from the death of his rotten brother, is vulnerable to the machinations of Shelly (Hudson Leick), his vengeful sister in law. We haven't forgotten Amanda (show savior Heather Locklear), who begins the season uncharacteristically compassionate. Not to worry; she reverts to her bad self after Brooke uncovers a secret from her past and blackmails her. "Kiss the nice Amanda goodbye," she coolly threatens Brooke. "I'm back." Which is just the way we love her. This whopping nine-disc set contains no extras, but, really, with all the backstabbings and betrayals, hook-ups and, yes, hauntings, do you really need commentary? --Donald Liebenson |

How to Make Liquid Soap - the Secrets to Liquid Soap Making
When you start making soap and you get the bars down pat, some like to make liquid soap. Liquid soap is a nice alternative to the sometimes messy bars of soap. With liquid soap there is no soap scum build up to deal with and no hard soap to have to clean off of the counter. Finding the time to clean up after your family can be hard enough without having to clean up after soap.
To make liquid soap isn't nearly as difficult as you would have thought. There are actually many ways that you can make liquid soap, some more difficult than others. One of the easiest ways to make liquid soap is to melt down a bar of soap. All that liquid soap is is a bar of soap that has more water added to it. When picking the bar to use to make liquid soap, it is best to use one that has little to no colors and fragrances added. I say this because those are the things that can be irritating to your skin causing it to dry and flake. A pure castile bar of soap would be best as the main ingredient in them is olive oil which is known to nourish your skin.
Basically the only things that you will need to make this simple liquid soap are a bar of soap, some water, a stove and pot and last but not least, a glass heat resistant measuring cup. Of course if you wish to add fragrances, vitamins or any other additive you will want to have them on hand too. To begin to make your liquid soap you will need to either grate or cube your bar of soap. Once this is done, add the grated or cubed soap to the glass measuring cup with an equal amount of water. Most bars of soap weigh approximately four ounces and so you would want to add in four ounces of water. If you get a bar that weighs six ounces, add six ounces of water and so on.
Now with the soap and water inside of the heat resistant glass measuring cup, place the cup inside of a pot that is about half full of water. Turn the stove top on a low heat setting so that you can start to melt the soap gently. Heat the water to where it is almost at a boil but not totally. You can remove the cup with the soap inside once the soap has become a uniform liquid, meaning that there is no separation of the soap and water. If you do not wish to add any other additives to your soap then you can remove it from the cup and place in the container of your choice.
I personally like to place additives in my soap so that it has some antibacterial action and also can soften my skin. Even the best bar soaps out there can leave your skin feeling a little dry and so I like to add some vitamins to my soap. To do this you can simply take some vitamin A and E gel caps and empty the contents into the soap. You can add about three or four of them to be just right. If you want you can add more, this is just the amount that I suggest. Also, to get some natural antibacterial soap you can simply add some eucalyptus, tea tree or even grapefruit oil to your soap. This is a natural alternative to some of the harsh chemicals that are available to do the same thing. When adding in the oils I only use ten to twelve drops of any or a mixture of the oils. Basically no more than twelve drops total.
This soap will be something that you can give as gifts or have just for your family to use. And what's great when you make liquid soap is that it is just what you wanted. This soap is something that you can use knowing exactly what is in it.
