For longer windows, metal poles will need a connector to join them and they can be cut for a smaller window. Wooden poles need a double end screw to fix them.

Is there a way to clean my shower curtain and liner without taking them down?

Take them down to wash but you don't have to remove them completely. Open up the rings and take everything down in one piece. Close the rings back up and throw the shower curtain, liner and fabric rings altogether in the washing machine. Keep everything intact and wash on a gentle cycle. When you're done washing it, open the rings back up, hang everything back up on the rod and air dry. I do this even with plastic rings because it's such a hassle removing all of them from the curtain and liner. Fabric ones get dusty and need cleaning, so this should work out well.
